The Incarnation

There was something disappointing about God’s plan to save the world. Mary and Joseph were not royalty. Bethlehem was not Jerusalem. Cloths were not robes. A feeding trough was not a throne. God didn’t come to us as a king. Rather, He came to us as a beggar. "God with us” implies He became like us. God’s incarnation was not just about His presence coming to us. His incarnation made Him like us so that we could live with Him.
